Kavallieri RFC player Mariano Cutajar represents Maltese National Sevens Rugby team at presentation of €5 million euro grant for sports associations
In 2023 the Games of the Small States of Europe will be held again. This time Malta will be the organising country, just like it was in 1993 and 2003.
To support the Maltese athletes a fund of €5 million euro was given by the National Development and Social Fund (NDSF). Over a period of three years it will be used to financially support the sports associations. This way professional coaches can be attracted on a full-time basis, technical staffs can be fortified and athletes will be able to take part in competitions and training abroad.
Our very own Kavallieri RFC player Mariano Cutajar was at the conference to represent the Malta Sevens Rugby Team. This financial injection will benefit all rugby players.
These are the ten sports that will receive the support:
Rugby, judo, athletics, basketball, swimming, squash, shooting, tennis, table tennis and sacking.
There is a lot of believe in the talents of the Maltese athletes. Will the record of 23 gold medal be set in 2023? Only time will tell…
I’m in disbelief, an injection of cash, financial support….finally
