It wasn’t the best conditions to play in with a steady rain coming down in the first half making it slippery under foot.
Tries were scored by Josef Vassallo(6) breaking free after Wolves had spent time attacking the Kavallieri line, then Jethro Zammit Randich(15) running into the backline to score wide out.
A third try was scored by Aidan Dwight Mallia(12) from a quick tap penalty close to the Falcon’s tryline.
Mallia converted the three tries, one was a monster kick from the touchline.
He was also steadying his backline with his distribution, but a few times lost his way, trying to flip pass behind his back with the loose ball being swooped on by Wolves.
Jake Pace(10) was controlling the proceedings, with his forwards running off him or going wide quickly. Then the industrious Virain Hariramani(10) scored for Wolves after a patient build up, he then converted his own try to make the half time score Kavallieri 21 Wolves 7.
Kavallieri kicked off the second half with the wind at their backs, but it was a slick Wolves move with Daniel Ghirlando(9) breaking and then offloading to his second rower Gareth Blundell(5) then on to Marco Gauci(7) who scored under the posts, Hariramani converted to make the score 21 to 12.
But immediately Kavallieri upped their game and fought their way back into the Wolve’s 22, Jake Pace(10) popped a flat pass to a steaming Zammit Randich(15) for him to score under the posts. Mallia converted, but just when it looked like they had buried the Wolves, Hariramani having a great game, popped up again and scored, with his conversion it was now Kavallieri 28, Wolves 21.
The game suffered a bit with head high tackles, wrong decision making and cold hands as mistakes crept into the game.
Branton Bonello(4) then sealed the win for Kavallieri with an interception and then running 50 metres to score. Making the final score Kavallieri 33, Wolves 21. A challenge for Referee Rebecka Hillelson, but she got through it with a smile on her face.
